Practice Areas - Wills, Trusts and Estates
Estate planning is crucial for all adults who have acquired assets over the course of their lives. Proper planning will result in your wishes being carried out just as you direct. Not only can you direct how your assets are to be distributed, but you can also appoint a guardian or guardians for your children and appoint a person to carry out your directions.

A Will can do all of the above and is the most inexpensive option. For individuals with fairly simple estates, a will is a great option. A Trust is a more complex document that has some distinct advantages over wills. The main advantage is avoiding probate when you pass away. To put it simply, your trustee will not have to deal with the courts in order to distribute your assets. A personal representative in a will, on the other hand, with the assistance of his or her lawyer, will have to open up an estate to lawfully carry out the directions in your will.

There are many considerations in determining how your estate plan should be carried out. If you would like to discuss your options please don’t hesitate to call our office.
